This is a (large) detail from a painting I did for show on butterflies of the East Coast and their host plants sponsored by the Greater NY chapter of the Guild of Natural Science Illustrators. The painting depicts the Hackberrry Emperor butterfly on a hackberry tree. If you look closely, you'll see that the life cycle of the butterfly is shown!
